Stainless steel elbow making processing points
Jan 18, 2019

In the welding operation, in order to ensure the welding quality, the electrode used for the stainless steel elbow should be kept dry, the titanium calcium type should be dried at 150 ° C for one hour, and the low hydrogen type should be dried at 200 to 250 ° C for one hour. Be careful not to repeat the drying many times, otherwise the coating will be easily cracked and peeled off. Prevent the electrode coating from sticking to oil and other dirt, so as not to cause the weld to increase the carbon content and affect the quality of the weldment.

It should be noted that during the welding of stainless steel elbows, carbides may be precipitated due to repeated heating, reducing corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. After welding, the hardenability is large and cracks are likely to occur. If welding with the same type of welding rod is used, preheating at 300 °C or above and slow cooling at around 700 °C after welding must be performed. If the weldment cannot be post-weld heat treated, a chrome-nickel stainless steel electrode should be used.

In addition, if you want to improve the corrosion resistance and weldability of stainless steel elbows, you can add appropriate amount of stability elements, such as Ti, Nb, Mo, etc., the welding is better, when using the same type of chrome stainless steel electrode, should Preheating at 200 ° C or higher and tempering at around 800 ° C after welding. If the weldment cannot be heat treated, a chrome-nickel stainless steel electrode should be
