What kind of requirements should distance between the straight pipe weld be met?

During the welding operation of straight pipe, we should pay special attention to a key problem, that is, we should pay attention to ensure the distance between the welds is suitable. The reason for this requirement is mainly to avoid the residual stress of welding as much as possible. If the distance between the welds is too small, it will have a bad effect on the strength of the weld before the straight pipe when the welding is done again.

So, what specific requirements should be met? In order to solve this problem, we need to analyze the straight tube products based on the size of different diameters. For example, if the pipe diameter is no more than 150 mm, the center distance between the two adjacent girth welds shall not be less than the outer diameter, and shall not be less than fifty millimeters. If a pipe with a nominal diameter of 150 mm or more, the center spacing of the two-phase circumferential weld must not be less than 150 millimeters.

In addition, the actual distance between the straight pipe welds and the edges of the support and hangers shall not be less than fifty millimeters. If heat treatment is needed, the minimum net distance between the weld distance and the edge of the hanger should be more than 5 times the width of the weld, and not less than 100 millimeters.

Of course, we also need to do the welding according to the relevant standards. For example, in the "Specification for design of industrial metal pipes", this rule is : the distance between two butt welds on straight pipe should not be less than three times the thickness of weldments. If the heat treatment is needed after welding, it must not be less than 6 times the thickness of weldments.
